Why Health Hexagon exists.
Across more than 60,000 appointments, one recurring pattern emerged.
Health, pain, movement, relationships, finances, work, recovery, purpose and environment constantly influence one another.
Yet we naturally look for a single cause and a single solution in a multifaceted problem.
Health Hexagon was created to help people explore the bigger picture.

Finite Capacity. Infinite Demands.
At the heart of Health Hexagon is a simple idea:
We have finite capacity, but we face seemingly infinite demands.
Every day we make decisions about where to invest our time, energy, attention, and resources.
Some demands support our health and wellbeing.
Others gradually drain our capacity.
When demands consistently exceed capacity, problems often begin to emerge.
Sometimes those problems appear as pain.
Sometimes they appear as stress, fatigue, frustration, poor recovery, reduced performance, or simply a growing sense that life feels harder than it should.
Health Hexagon provides a framework for understanding how these competing demands interact and how small changes can influence the wider system.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is greater awareness, better choices, and better long-term wellbeing.
The ideas behind Health Hexagon
Many of the ideas behind Health Hexagon were first explored in Pain: The Ultimate Mentor.
The book examines why health, pain and wellbeing are rarely explained by a single cause and introduces many of the principles that now underpin the Health Hexagon framework.
When understood and managed correctly pain is a mentor that can lead to profound personal growth and improved health.
British Journal of General Practice review
"Pain: The Ultimate Mentor is a deeply insightful book that reshapes our understanding of pain and its role in our lives, offering a fresh and practical perspective on managing pain. Authored by Kevin Hunt, a seasoned physiotherapist, the book reframes pain not as a mere symptom to be eradicated, but as a critical messenger and guide towards better health and wellbeing."
Sir Terry Waite
"Not only is Kevin Hunt a skilled and professional physiotherapist he is also a clear and detailed writer. Writing out of twenty five years of practical experience of assisting patients manage pain he now offers his insights to a wider public. In this carefully researched book Kevin Hunt explains how sufferers can begin to control their discomfort. This book should be essential reading for anyone who experiences pain. As a lifelong sufferer of chronic back pain I strongly recommend this book."
Annabell Bridge
"I have read this book three times now and have gained a huge amount of help from understanding more about the way pain works and some strategies for managing it as effectively as possible. Getting to grips with the science behind pain really embeds the points that Kevin makes. The writing is clear and concise and the use of examples from Kevin’s practice brings the information alive. I would recommend this book highly to anyone trying to manage pain."

The story behind Health Hexagon.
Health Hexagon was created by Kevin Hunt, physiotherapist, educator, and author of Pain: The Ultimate Mentor.
Three decades of clinical practice and more than 60,000 patient appointments, Kevin repeatedly observed that many health and wellbeing challenges could not be adequately explained through simple, single-cause models.
The Health Hexagon framework emerged from this experience as a way of helping people understand the wider systems that influence health, behaviour, resilience, pain, recovery, and wellbeing.
Health Hexagon AI was developed to make those conversations more accessible beyond the clinic room.
